Welcome! 🙃
There was no chance that I would begin this post without creating the iconic Twilight Zone intro. Did I have to do this? No! But am I extra and pretty much told myself I have no choice? YES! ✨No regrets ✨
I’m so thrilled to finally dedicate a whole post to one of the greatest shows of all time (NOT an opinion). First of all, Rod Serling 👏🏻. That’s it. Just his name and clap!!! No, but seriously, he was such an incredible writer and the Twilight Zone would not be anywhere near as amazing without him narrating the show. I’m just giving you the facts!
*pretends to smoke cigarette*
And of course, I had to recreate some episodes. God bless Photopia on Harv’s Island. It really is my film studio and I am the director! 🤗 Anyways, here are just some of my favorite episodes!
“The After Hours”- Boy, oh, boy what a creepy episode! It involves mannequins… LOTS and lots of mannequins. 🫣
Marsha walks into a department store looking for a gift. She ends up going to a strange floor and receives help by a saleswoman who ends up finding her the gift that she needed. As she is about to leave, she notices the gift is damaged. She tries to get help but no one believes her because the floor she bought the gift from…. doesn’t exist. 🫡
She then recognizes the saleswoman who helped her, but realizes that she’s a mannequin! Talk about being in the twilight zone. This would drive me absolutely mad!
Recognize this hair and outfit? 🫣 Turns out, Marsha herself was a mannequin. Apparently, the ninth floor (the floor that doesn’t exist) is full of live mannequins who take turns being humans. 😱 Marsha was so busy living her best human life, she forgot to turn back into a mannequin. Yeah, no big deal.
“The Masks” – Ah, this is one of the first episodes I ever saw! Any title with the word “mask” in it will automatically grab my attention… and this did not disappoint!
Set on the night of Mardi Gras, an elderly man who is pretty much ready to cross over, invites his family over for a little Mardi Gras fun! 🥳 His daughter, her husband, and their two kids are not really the best people. They’re disingenuous and only care about themselves and everything that isn’t actually important! (what a great lesson lol)
In fact, they’re so awful that they all want this poor man to die already so they can collect his inheritance!! This family is scum!
Well, this old man has a fun party trick up his sleeve! He tells them that in Mardi Gras tradition, everyone must wear a mask until midnight. These masks are not… very cute, to put it nicely. He tells them that the masks represent the “opposite” (yeah right) of their personalities.
At this point, they all participate ONLY because if they do, then they’ll receive his inheritance. Well, jokes on them because sure they might be richer, but the masks transform their faces into what the masks look like. So, they all look pretty hideous… just like their personalities. 😇
“Number 12 looks just like you!” – Oooh, this one is too good! It’s set in a dystopian world… actually, I believe Rod Serling said this was set in the year 2000. I think it was a bit far off but today, in 2024, this episode rings a lot of truth!
Anyways, in this society, everyone goes through a “transformation” where they get their faces and bodies altered to look more “beautiful”. (sound familiar? lol) Marilyn is almost turning eighteen and she has to pick which new “appearance” she would like to get.
She really has no desire to change her appearance but unfortunately, no one can understand where she’s coming from. It looks like once everyone gets their “transformation”, they also get brainwashed. 😵💫
Everything is rainbows and butterflies and sunshine and everyone is happy and always looks perfect. 😄 😭
She gets sent to a psychologist and from there, she is taken into the hospital where they force her to stay and give her the transformation. No, Marilyn!! 😖
Another one bites the dust 🫡
Now she looks beautiful, exactly like everyone else.
“The Howling Man” – Last episode! I had so much fun doing these 😆 This one is so fascinating! It has to do with the devil. 👿
One stormy night, a man who is lost stumbles upon a castle. This castle is apparently a monastery. He knocks and asks for help, but they refuse to help him! (a monastery refusing to help? How unholy!) Meanwhile, there’s a really obnoxious howling sound that everyone seems to not hear? (they’re all probably just used to it)
The man ends up fainting and when he wakes up, decides to go investigate where the howling sound is coming from. He stumbles upon a man inside a cell, who tells him that the people in this castle are evil and treat him horribly.
One of the monks see the man talking to the prisoner, and so they confess to him that the man in the cell, AND the howling sound is actually the devil himself. 😧 They were able to capture him and keep him locked away for the last couple of years. Oh, so that’s why things have been so peaceful!
Of course, the man doesn’t believe them and is tricked by the devil, no less. The man unlocks the cell and frees the devil.
That’s right, the man let the devil escape!!!! If there’s one thing the devil will do, is lie and play tricks on you. 🫠 We’re only human.
If you’ve never seen the Twilight Zone, definitely go and watch these episodes but these are just droplets in a vast ocean of amazing episodes!
See ya tomorrow on HALLOWEEN!!!!!!
