The Lady in Purple 🪓

So as we get closer to October, I thought I’d share this little short story. I originally came up with this idea back in 2020. I just added a bit more to the story. I’m not sure what inspired this…. I must have been watching a lot of true crime videos at the time 🫡

So as you can see by the title, this story is called “The Lady in Purple”. She was an eccentric, but very mysterious woman in town. Her husband was a very wealthy man who… well, no one actually knew what he did but apparently he accumulated a lot of wealth in his life! A good portion of it was his inheritance.

For some odd reason, the woman only ever wore purple. She even had purple eyes! No one in town could tell if they were real or not. It was a rare sighting whenever someone spotted her in town. All anyone knew was that she popped up out of nowhere a few years ago, and all she ever said was that she was “the new wife” 😵‍💫

One October day, the Lady in Purple actually goes into town and tells everyone one she sees that her husband passed away. The villagers didn’t know which one was more shocking: the death of her husband, or the fact that she’s actually telling them in person. She tells them that he passed away in his sleep, and that the doctors performed an autopsy which confirmed this. Everyone gave their condolences and sent flowers.

For the next several days, the Lady in Purple would go out each day, just as the sun was setting, and cry, standing near the ocean. Many of the villagers walking by didn’t really know what to do, and found this quite strange, but they just chalked it up to grief. They do say that everyone grieves differently.

.There was no funeral or proper burial, but the deceased husband did have a gravestone down at the cemetery.

One evening, one of the villagers was making their way back home when they decided to take a shortcut through the cemetery. They noticed the Lady in Purple was there. She had a pleased look on her face. Perhaps she was happy to see his gravestone. She also had something in her hand……hmmm….. maybe she………oh………..

This was the last time anyone ever saw her! The next morning, her house was already on the market for sale.
