Designing a Home For Katie! 🐱

Howdy! πŸ‘‹πŸ» In case you haven’t noticed, I’m at work today! Happy Home Paradise is such a wonderful place to work for. How lucky that my job is this relaxing!? Well, maybe designing a home isn’t always relaxing (I’ll get more into that later πŸ˜…), but I’m so grateful that my job site is on a beautiful island and everyone I work with is so kind and wholesome. πŸ˜‡

We have a very special client today! She goes by the name of Katie. πŸ˜™

She is absolutely adorable! Katie has been around since Animal Crossing: Wild World and has appeared in every single game….. until New Horizons, that is. ☹️ But fear not! If you can get a hold of her amiibo, then you can design her home in Happy Home Paradise (yay!) and even invite her over at the Roost for some coffee. πŸ˜‹

Discussing design plans and location! πŸ€— She’s one of the only clients that doesn’t have a theme, so I pretty much had free range and could do whatever! Luckily, I was able to get a feel of what Katie is like. She definitely seems like a Spring/Summer girl. I decided her home should be in a summery location — not beachy, but sunny with lots of greenery.

Let’s begin!

The house exterior didn’t take me too long to design. I mean, to be fair, it’s probably the easiest part of designing a home. πŸ˜… I went with a blue striped roof, orange door, and an orange and white brick exterior. I was actually inspired by Katie’s outfit! Her blue denim dress and orangey red backpack. πŸ™‚

For outdoor furniture, I added a swinging bench on the right, and on the left….

I thought it would be lovely to add a kid’s tent and picnic basket! Katie seems like a nature lover, so I figured that adding a couple of areas where she can enjoy the beauty outside her home would be very fitting!

Ahhh, I’m so excited to show you the inside. 😬 I’m actually really proud of it.

I present to you….. Katie’s Kubbyhole! 😊 (I’m so proud of the name as well πŸ˜†)

I’ll be the first one to admit — I don’t think designing homes is that relaxing. πŸ˜‚ If I don’t put much thought or effort into it, then sure. But if I want something to actually look and feel good, then it will stress me out! I guess that’s the crazy perfectionist in me. This took me a little longer than I thought it would but once I was done, it felt complete and perfect for Katie! Let us give you a little tour. πŸ˜™

This is the entire home. I didn’t think two floors was necessary because…. honestly, that would REALLY stress me out, but Katie also seems like she would enjoy a smaller space. πŸ™‚ Plus, she has so much outdoor space!

The main colors I wanted to use were yellow, and some pink and orangey tones. I ended up using a tiny bit of green as well which I think looks lovely, especially since there’s some green in the wallpaper. Speaking of the wallpaper, this yellow floral-print wall could not have been more perfect! It had all of the colors I wanted to incorporate and the floral print is so pretty.

I’m obsessed with this orange and pink loft bed with desk! Katie seems like she enjoys jotting down thoughts and ideas. I bet she has some sort of journal or diary. πŸ™ƒ I also added a white ranch chair and a pink wooden end table. On top of the end table is…. her brand new camera!!! πŸ‘πŸ»

A little backstory on Katie: In all of the previous games besides New Leaf, Katie would be crying, asking the player to help her find her mom. In New Leaf, she’a a little older and out on her own. I believe she still wanted the player to accompany her on the train because she was still a little scared (aw, Katie πŸ₯²), but she manages to travel alone for the most part! After you help her out, she sends you a gift the following day. One of the gifts I received after I helped her was a toy camera, so I thought it would be nice if she had an actual camera! ☺️

This was actually the very last thing I added….an upright piano! Katie seems like a very balanced person and by that, I mean that she enjoys a little bit of everything! Sure, she might be introverted, but I bet you she enjoys traveling even more as she’s gotten older! I bet she also loves watching tv, reading, and learning! I can totally see her learning how to play piano. πŸ€“

I also added a red piano bench!

Like I mentioned just now, she definitely enjoys her trashy tv! 🀭 (I mean honestly, who doesn’t) We all need those lazy, tv (and video game) days. πŸ€ͺ

This living room space consists of a yellow cute sofa, nordic low table, and a white, LCD (20 in.) TV!

And lastly, the kitchen! I definitely wanted the bedroom and kitchen to have some sort of separation, so adding this partition wall was ideal. I also love that the kitchen and living room are one open area, so Katie can watch tv while she’s cooking or baking!

This green compact kitchen and silver refrigerator are perfect for this small area. I also added a pot rack on the wall. πŸ˜„

I can totally see myself living here! Maybe I should swap the loft bed for bunk beds? Katie, would you like a roommate!? Or at least a weekend visitor? πŸ˜†

Katie seemed very pleased with her new home. I could not be happier!

Wow, no way!

We ended the day by celebrating at Chuck E. Cheese! πŸ₯Έ πŸ₯³ 🀣

*sigh* I love my job! See you in a few days. ✌🏻
